Toledo’s new public safety building has gotten a fresh coat of pride—wrapped in the unmistakable colors of Boomer blue. It’s a gesture that hits close to home, honoring Toledo High School and the spirit of our community with the same hues that fly on Friday nights at the football field.
But it’s the sheer volume of blue that’s caught everyone’s attention. This isn’t a subtle accent or a respectful nod. It’s a full-throated, chest-thumping, color-saturated Boomer shout.
The building doesn’t whisper “Go Boomers”—it bellows it from every square foot of siding.
While some appreciate the bold aesthetic, others find it visually overwhelming. The architectural canvas, awash in intense blue with minimal contrast, has led a few passersby to blink twice and ask, “Do we have Smurfs in Toledo or did the high school mascot finally win a city council seat?”
Still, it’s hard to deny the spirit behind the choice. The building stands as a tribute—not just to public safety, but to civic pride, school legacy, and the tightly-knit fabric of Toledo life. In a time when small towns are working harder than ever to preserve identity, the message here is clear: this is Boomer territory, and we’re proud of it.
Even if it takes a pair of sunglasses to take it all in.
Go Boomers!
